Default Tilt-away steering wheel.

Besides going to the dealer, is there a way to disable this feature?

I don't mind it but it's always in the back of my head if it quits working then what .... expensive trip to a dealer.

...it's a feature that can be disabled with Techstream.

The TechStream software can be found in all sorts of places. It's a gray area, so I'll just leave it at that.

I turned the tilt away feature off along with the daytime running lights.

Maybe you can put the SW in the position where it retracts to , that way , there's nowhere for it to move to , it's a;ready there

I mentioned disabling tilt-away to wife but I guess she likes it so it stays for now. Thanks for all replies.

Booyah,

Point well taken, I love the GX but could do without some of the gadgets, too bad they do not make GX470 in a basic form but then again it would not be Lexus I guess.

I'm with you Pete, my 2005 GX telescope motor started getting really noisy and I'd rather just turn it off.

I have the same fear Pete, I like the feature but also fear the wear and tear on the motors.

If you are handy with computers, get a cable off of amazon, download the software and run Techstream. You can turn that feature off, along with several others. Like DRL, adjust the headlights off timer and more. I had a hard time getting the software to work, but after working for what seemed like forever, I got it up and running and it was worth it. I paid like $35 for the cable. Having a older laptop with XP on it is ideal.

I had my local Toyota dealer turn this feature off. Only a matter of time before it breaks.
