Default Messaging Bluetooth set up

Hi everyone, I use IPhone 5S, try to set up messaging system on my 2017 Lexus NX 200t F sport. When I open set up-phone there are list of things that you can set up, but on "messaging" button is not light it up, so I cannot set up. My phone is connected and I can make a hand free call.
Do you think my phone is not compatible with the car device?

Go under your Bluetooth settings and click the blue "I" circle info icon to the right of your hands free device - in the next menu, make sure the "Show Notifications" is "on". This should make your tests appear on the screen; however, unless Lexus has changed something, you will not be able to send messages through the car - only receive.

Yes, you can only receive messages, not send as there is some incompatibility - documented in the link I posted previously - does not work on my 2014 IS or 2017 NX. The incoming texts work fine - you will get a message on the screen asking you to load message - once you click "read", the text message will be spoken to you through the entertainment system.

you have to use SIRI or the android equivalent to send messages, Siri Eyes Free works just fine for this in my RCF

iphone6+ I press the voice button for couple seconds, say send text message to xxxxxx.
Siri comes on NX system and says, what do you want the message to say?
Then I say the message,
Siri repeats it, asks if ready to send, I say yes.

Are you referring to the buttons on the phone, or the steering wheel? If the phone, is that not illegal where you are?
