Default Caviar - owner comments on care over time

I have read and understand care concerns with Obsidian, however I would like to hear from Lexus owners who have the color Caviar and have lived with it for some time. I would like to know how you like the durability of the color and its resistance to swirl marks. Are you happy with the selection of Caviar?

After thinking that I would get Obsidian, I got Caviar, mainly because that is what they had in stock and I could not wait.

In retrospect, I probably should have waited for Obsidian for several reasons.

First, Caviar rarely looks clean, as it does not have that deep mirror-like shine of Obsidian. For instance, if the car is clean but the sky is overcast, then the color looks milky, like there is a film of dirt on it. If it is sunny, it doesn't have the deep shine.

As far as swirl marks go, my car has loads of them, especially after using ONR.

So, don't believe the hype, get Obsidian.

Thanks! My love is Obsidian. However I use car washes routinely and I lease my cars so perhaps the swirl marks are irreverent.

I totally disagree! I have Stargazer which is the same as Caviar on my 14 RX and it is not as hard to maintain vs. Obsidian. I use extreme care when washing it and do not use a lot of elbow grease when drying it. Lexus paint is soft no matter what color it is and proper methods are important while maintaining it.
