Default Weak Trunk Shocks?

Does your trunk lift up by itself with little effort (can be done with a single finger) or does it stay in place and you have to use your entire hand to lift up? It does stay in whatever position I leave it in.

This car has the first trunk I've had to physically lift up and open. Every other vehicle I have owned or used I could lift up the trunk with a finger.

Dealer says its suppose to be like that? Im used to it now, but not sure if that was the case for all ISXXX with an OEM lip spoiler

Your dealer is full of it. When I lift the trunk about 6" or so, it goes right up all the way.

My trunk is like that too. I'm not sure how other trunks are like. My previous is350 had the same too.

My trunk also doesn't lift. Mine even slams hard if I don't gently close it.

Hood on mine doesn't raise up all the way without assistance and trunk also seems to be sluggish, but I wouldn't say it's hard to open.

The gas in the shocks breaks down over time.

Mine also doesn't move without assistance. I don't even think the trunk has shocks. It's just than one huge hinge.. my is350 was the same.

It doesn't have traditional struts like the hood, that's 100% for certain.

If you remove the carpet surrounding the upper part of the trunk to expose hinges and mechanics of trunk you will find there are in fact struts.

Anyone with a short video of opening the trunk?
Mine is lifeless, no shocks.....full labor.

Hey, I got my 2010 IS F last week, and my trunk is the same. Where normal trunks with torsion bars assist with lifting, I feel like opening the trunk of my F is a completely manual process, like it doesn't care if I ever get the trunk open or not. I'm honestly glad to hear it's not supposed to be like that!

I'll pull out the trunk carpeting and replace my struts soon, and let you know if it improves!

That's what I get for saying 100%. I saw the hinges and mechanism bulging into the trunk so I assumed no struts - my mistake. There is both a hinge and a strut. Strut P/N is non-directional: 6453053014 for both left and right, ~$115ea at mylparts.com.
