We found in the hot months.. The car didn't launch as well with the Flap always open..
Sounds *****ing..!!
But remember SOUND increase does not always equal HP gains
Sometimes in the cooler SoCal months, I unplug it to spice things up a bit
But as soon as it's hotter than 70, it's plugged right back in.

Pole Position
With vacuum connected, sound peaks at about 87db while vacuum unconnected went off scale to > 90db. Clearly louder or fuller sound.
Meter response setting was fast so it is not averaged, and weighting was C to get the low frequencies to measure.
I also did a slow run up with the car parked and clearly could not hear the difference but later could see increases in the frequency content. I tapped on the cell phone case at 3k, 4k and 5k rpm. You can see the vertical strips labeled on the frequency vs time plot. Not sure why one see more yellow (high db level) in the connected image (more horizontal and brighter yellow) when greater than 3.7k but there is not major increase but tome in the unconnected at 3.3k and 3.5k. This difference could be difference in where I was holding the cell phone. You can see more cyan in the frequencies 500 to 1500 in the unconnected. Maybe the speed of the run up would allow the difference to show up.
Bottom line I think you can hear the difference in the videos.
Great tip to just pull off the connector JoeZ
