Default Noisy (loose) brake pedal

Our 2013 RX350 has a brake pedal that makes a pretty loud noise when it snaps back after you depress it a little harder and take your foot off. I complained to my SA, and they told me it's normal. It's not a big deal, but any other car I have owned, I have never noticed such a thing. Anybody else notice something similar?

It sounds like the Hill Start Assist which is normal behavior.

See this thread on a discussion about it: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/rx-...-question.html

Thanks, I am familiar with the HSA, but that's not what I am referring to. It's just a mechanical noise that the brake pedal makes when it's released, nothing to do with HSA.

My 2013 RX350 doesn't do that at all. (knocking on wood now)

Probably best to take back to your dealer and perform a road test with the SA. Then, to take it a step further, test drive another RX and see if indeed it does the same. Suggest both of you drive both cars so you both know for sure.

I have exactly the same noise, and looks like its poor disign. The spring that pulls the brake padel back is too strong and pools pedal to fast and to strong hitting the pedal stop very hard.I temporary removed spring and noise almost gone.I think you can drive without that spring, but I wouldn't recommend without consulting Lexus

Default brake pedal

My brake pedal also does this. It is loud and also lakes a metal on metal noise like it is loose. the dealership says this is normal. They have told me other things are normal, but when a part was replaced, fixed that other problem. Therefore, I don't have much confidence in them.
For the price of the vehicle, the brake pedal should not sound like a cheap piece of metal!

Yes, if I don't concentrate on slowly taking my foot off the brake, if make a loud "Clunk" like noise. Not too impressive if you have friends riding with you.

I looked for some sort of an up-stop cushion up there above the brake pedal, but found none. I'll check tomorrow with the engine running, with vacuum to the vacuum assist, to check the speed of the pedal's return and see why my brake pedal does not "clunk" like the others. I agree, that would be very annoying.

Hi, anybody any luck on getting this fixed? I will take car back for service again, and I would really like to get this fixed, so any information would be helpful. Like others have stated, when you don't focus on taking your foot off the brake slowly, you get this annoying clunking noise from brake pedal.

I checked my brake pedal action today, and no clunk. Sorry.

My 2013 does the same thing and so did my 2008. Seems like it's just a design flaw.

Our 2013 rx350 has 51K on it, and there is no noise at all when releasing the pedal. Weird.
