Default Speaker Blown / Speaker Rattle / Speaker Booming

The front door Mark Levinson 6x9 speakers on the my 2004 GX470 sounded as if they had blown.

I thought it was going to be an expensive repair. Or worse yet, two new 6x9 ML speakers.

After some research, I surmised that the foam around the speakers came unglued and cracked. That caused a booming sound during heavy bass parts of the songs because that paper-thin foam is flapping around

Fear not.......no need to buy new speakers. Instead spend $25 for a kit and replace the foam around the speaker. It is really easy!!!

I bought the kit from SIMPLY SPEAKERS - (727) 571-1245. They have the exact fit for your speakers. My purchase order says: LEXUS, MARK LEVINSON 6"X9" FOAM AUTO SPEAKER REPAIR KIT FSK-6X9.

It took all of 10-minutes to remove the door panel and about 45-minutes to repair. SIMPLY SPEAKERS will send you directions on how to repair. However, there are also many YouTube videos online, including one from their company.

Many threads here already w/r/t 6x9 speaker surround repair. IMO, you may want to reconsider repairing these speakers because when the voice coils blows then you have to replace them. Easier to just swap them for 6.5" 8 ohm speakers which run the same price as the repair kit ($25).

I am fan of East coast speakers for listening to classic, quiet music. 25.00 speaker? Must be made in China copy cat or something, LOL!

Does anyone know how you would wire a 6 channel amp to the non-ML system?
Since there are 7 speakers, do the three up front just share 2 channels? Also, does the sub have its own mono factory amp?

6 channel means actually 6.1 = 6 speakers plus a woofer. Front left, right, center, rear left, right surround + woofer. I'd wire in this order
keeping the correct phase. Woofer is driven from LFE output or tapped off from front left channel.
