Hello,

A lot of people have been curious on how to install the sport pedal on the infamous Accelerator (Gas) Pedal. My pictures are to be used with conjunction with the OEM PDF Install Manual for a successful DIY.

Here are the pictures:

Main tools you would need.
10MM Socket
Angle Adapter
6" Extension
Ratchet
Philips Screw Driver
Pin Punch Tool
Hammer (Not Pictured)

First, you will need to remove the two Philips screws located one on each corner.

Once the screws is removed, you may not remove the cover. Remember you have two things to detach:
1. The LED Floor Light
2. The OBD 2 Harness

When those are removed, the cover will come free and it will look like this:

When the cover is removed, the pedal assembly is exposed.
You will need to unplug the harness and remove the 2 10MM bolts.
The inner 10MM bolt is very difficult to see but it is in there. For this bolt, you will need the angle adapter.



The pedal assembly removed

Now with the pedal assembly removed, use the pin tool and hammer to knock out the pin. Once the plastic pedal is removed, knock the pin for the new pedal in place.

Reverse installation of the pedal. New sport pedal installed.

Now the easy stuff....

Remove the rubber brake pedal cover.

slip on the new sport brake pedal cover.

Some light soapy solution helps to slide it in place.

Pull the dead pedal cover off. Don't worry, it is only held in by 2 clips.

Once the plastic dead pedal is removed, pop on the new sport dead pedal.

All pedals installed:

Now reinstall the cover and you are done!

Nice job and tahnks for the DIY. Can it be done without taking the whole pedal assembly out?

Actually you must remove the pedal assembly. In my opinion, it will be much safer to remove the pedal assembly from the car to install the pedal properly.

You can probably get away with it.. but at that angle, it is very difficult to see how deep is the pin installed.

I'm sure you do not want to be driving and all of the sudden, the pedal will come loose.

But be realistic, how much time would you save by installing the pedal without removing the accelerator pedal?

Do it right the first time!

I'm not really sure how the whole pedal on the IS works but isn't it a big risk to take out the whole pedal assembly or is it pretty safe to do so? I'm just curious since it looks to be a crucial part of the car that should not be touched, but then again I could be wrong.

Well I personally think it is safe since this pedal is electronically connected. It is as simple as unbolt and unplugging the harness.

All of the packages use the same ebrake pedal.

Yeah, too bad there isn't an aluminum cover for the ebrake. That would be cool.

Nice! Looking good thanks for the write up. Would have been really helpful though to include some more pics of the gas pedal install like removing the pin and so forth. Now that those pedals are a reasonable price I may pick up a set.
