Anyone ever remove the factory hydrocarbon secondary filter on their air box that is between the replaceable air filter and the mass air flow sensor?
Wondering if doing so will trigger a check engine light?

I removed it from a 2007 Lexus RX400h and a 2014 Lexus RX350. I’ve driven thousands of miles since removing it, and the Check Engine light hasn't come on. It serves an environmental purpose only—specifically, to prevent gasoline vapors from escaping when the engine is turned off.
If you remove it and also install a zero-resistance filter in the factory airbox you will gain 50 horsepower nothing will change, it will just be a placebo effect.
