Car Overheated after hose replacement car no longer will start cranks but no start
Car over heated while driving home after bad installation of a hoses on radiator swap car turned on day of issue starting car sat for 1 month now it just cranks no start swapped oil but still nothing not sure issue at dead end and plan on just parting out car
When you say the car “overheated” do you mean that it got hotter than usual, the temp gauge climbed to the top and the coolant was steaming out of any crack it could find? Or did it get really low on coolant which means it couldn’t circulate the coolant, so it just got hotter and hotter until something internally melted down?
It’s a good sign that it still cranks over, but are the head gaskets intact? Have you refilled the coolant? U need to make sure it’s watertight, then do a compressor test.
Over heating usual does structural damage, so make sure the internals are all solid.
Car didint have suffiecent coolant after install system had a lot of air car reach red line after 10 minutes into the drive i filled the car will coolant its reletivily full i havent taken the heads off or anything due to strict policies of working on vehicles where i live just trying to get a eduicated guess at what issues it could possibly be i was assuming id need a new head due to how hot it got was just trying to get it started so we can move it
Get a coolant system pressure tester, so you can confirm the condition of the block and head gaskets. If it still holds pressure then that’s great, and you can start narrowing down the culprit, but if it won’t pressurize then you’ll need to find a place to pull the heads off. If there is a major problem, your best option is to get a used motor you can get a good one for less than $2000, if you have to disassemble your whole engine and send it to a machine shop, you’ll spend double that amount.
if it overheated while driving home did you tow it or did you make the drive back? if you drove it back i hope you let it sit and cool down if you were riding it while it was hot u likely blew it
