I really do not think there is any question that in terms of reliability the 1UZ-FE engine is the best engine Toyota - or perhaps any company - has ever created. Not the most powerful, but proven, tried and true and has LITERAL examples of powering cars for over 1 million miles. The only engine that i think is even close in terms of reliability is the Ford 4.6 (powered most Crown Vic police cars for well over a decade) which is also bulletproof but much less sophisticated.
