Default Tire clearance

i just purchased this 2007 ES350. The car is clean inside / out and low miles for the year. After signing all the paper work for the purchase I was given the inspection report from the dealer and everything checks out as in good working order. The only comment was about the wheels being aftermarket and some possible rubbing. I did not notice any rubbing at all during a 10 minute test drive on local streets. The rims have the Toyota stamp on them so not sure what they mean by aftermarket. I think these may be IS rims but not sure and hoping someone can chime in. Also, the tires look beefier than what I like (245/45/18) but I will wait to change until i wear these out.

I also noticed the headlight color temps don't match. The right looks like 5000 color temp, whereas driver side appear to be more of a 4300 color temp. The right side bulb was replaced recently so not sure if this is why. but i can live with this for now.

Good to be back and Thanks.
Marc
Hi Marc,

I purchased the same year vehicle from the original owner August 2016.

The wheels should be R17, not R18. Maybe you can install a lower profile tire on your R18 wheels to get better clearance.

Default Tires

Thanks eroncone. So the 18"s are not a good wheel size for this car or do I simply need to get a different size tire? I like the rims and do believe they are Lexus wheels just not sure from which Lexus model. I have driven the car about a 100 since purchase two days ago on freeway and surface streets and have yet to hear or feel rubbing. Preference would be to wear these tires out first than get a different size tire. Unless of course if keeping these tires is a potential for issues, then i would change them immediately.

thanks again.

Marc, I am not an expert. The mfr recommends R17. On the other hand, I can imagine that there are folks who have done some "tuning" on the same ride and have found a "safe" solution to using the R18 wheel. Maybe you should consider if the insurance companies and your state's vehicle safety authority consider the R18 acceptable or not on the ES350.

FYI, I'm driving with 215/55R17 Goodyear on my ES350 but I am looking to go Michelin as I have very good experience with the brand on a former station wagon and a BMW R1100RT.

18s are fine for this car. I'm running 18" F sport wheels on my ES.

What year is your ES350, it seems to be a 6th generation model.

Mine is a 5th Gen 2011 es350. I got an after market bumper on there that has the style of the current gen 2013+

Yoire good to ride 18. I feel no difference riding 17 or 18. Now 19 you'd feel the road more and so forth with a side higher than that because of less tire to absorb the impact.

Smile My New to Me 2010 Lexus ES350

I bought a one owner pristine Lexus from an 86 year old fellow that just bought a new one! Mine has 39,000 miles on it and is Starfire Pearl color. Have purchased side mouldings and plan on installing them myself. I'm a 74 year old woman and I've never, ever had such a nice car! Am just thrilled with it even though I haven't learned all the gadgets yet. Put new Goodyear Comfortred tires on it after much study for quiet and comfort, and tread depth.

Previously drove a Buick Century Limited and was looking for a Buick Enclave (ha!) when I stumbled upon this deal and couldn't believe the condition and price.. Better price, better car by far. Never even though I could afford to buy a Lexus!

Any tips or tricks for learning about this marvelous car? Seems you can't turn the windshield wipers to an OFF position to go though a regular car wash, so I go through a laser one. I've yet to find out about the voice option too.

Congrats Lyrical! 39,000 is just broken in! I had a 2010 and loved it.

You can turn off the wipers by pushing the stalk all the way up to just before the mist. I can't help with voice commands as I never used them. Don't use them on my new ES either.

My 2010 had door guards, but my new car didn't. The dealer installed them as part of the deal. They use a template to ensure placement. They also said they get one chance to get it right and if they mess up they have to order new ones and do it again. So be careful
when you install them.

These cars have a LOT of options. I would suggest you read the owners manual. Some options you can change, and some the dealer has to do.

I forgot to add: That car has a full size wheel and tire spare. It is monitored by the TPMS and will cause a TPMS light if the air pressure goes low. If you get a TPMS light and all your tires are good, check that spare

Hi everyone, I am new as the club member but I stopped by before.

I was a previous Honda Accord owner for a long time. Totaled it back in Aug 2016. Got T-Boned buy a Young driver who was late for work.

I got to drive a 2016 ES 350 for a rental and felt in love with how it drives. Purchased my 2007 ES 350 with about 87K back in Sept 2016 from CarMax and loving it.
