Anyone done anything cool with their cigarette lighter/ashtray thats in the front console? I will most likely never use it so I wonder if it is just wasted space for me or if anyone has done anything cool with it. My 07 L will be here any day now

 

Some people have replaced the lighter with a cell phone holder and mount, with integrated USB ports for charging. Some have placed their Datasystems controller remote in that location.

 

Thanks Como! I thought about the controller, mine will have air suspension so I have been thinking about that...wife is good with electronics might get some USB ports wired up and put into that spot. I appreciate it! I have been lurking the last few days, this is really the 1st thing I thought of to post about.

I removed the the actual ash-tray - with it out, there more room to store stuff in its place.

 

I havent received the car yet so I hadnt thought of this, did it just pull out and leave an ugly hole or is it a decent space there?

 

Without the ash-tray, it does not look all that bad - it is all black and no other openings. I bet most folks looking at it wouldn't realize the ash-tray was missing.

 

Does anyone know the part number and cost of the non smoker box option?

 

I did the same thing. I used to set my phone in there till I got the CD mount cell phone holder on Amazon for 12 bucks.

 

It's $80.00 ....saw an authentic one on Ebay.

 

I installed my afterburner, grenade launcher and ejection seat buttons there.

 

Well I can't figure out if it's great minds think alike, or that you simply stole my thunder...
I just got finished installing 2 kits on the LS and the perfect place to install the activation buttons were right were the ashtray was.
The first kit installed was the "Car2Chopper" kit. Instead of a button though, it's a flip switch. Once flipped and activated, a rear mechanism ejects from the trunk as well as from the roof area and you are able to actually fly your LS as a helicopter.
The second installation was a button which activates hovercraft capabilities.
The install time for both took about 6 hours.
I'll be honest and say that I was debating between the hovercraft and passenger seat ejection module, but thought the hovercraft would afford me more fun and usability, especially given how often I find myself needing to cross swamp areas and body's of water here in the mid-west.
I was thinking about posting a DIY but wasn't sure how beneficial it would be to the forum.
