Default odd spot(s) on pass. sideview mirror glass

There's a round "worn" looking spot, with a dagger shape inside of it, where the mirror does not respond to dimming. Also, it's noticeable in daylight as well, where the glass is different than the rest. Knock on wood, don't seem to see this on the driver side.

I didn't notice until yesterday, but I remember my wife mentioning in in Dec. I thought maybe it had to do with the heating element.

At least the part is cheap to replace, $390.12 list / $269.72 sell (driver glass is more @ $424.35).

I think this is another one of those things one should let go, it's a bit cost-prohibitive to get it back up to snuff.8793150460

ps I don't see how if this is what you get, how it dims etc, interesting though

edit: as I've researched this a bit more, there has to be low voltage applied, and there is electrochromic gel inside...that must be messed up so I see a strange spot.

John, I get the feeling that if your car was perfect in every way you would then be afraid to drive it and we would be seeing posts requesting advice about how to build an addition to your garage...

BTW, a picture is worth a thousand words...

The electrochromic line on my driver side mirror is receding up from bottom edge. The receding line is not straight but like a free-form drawing of a toddler. My theory is the electrochromic gel sandwiched between the two glasses is drying out or leaking out :-)

I had something similar on both of mine when I got the car. I looked for replacements and then found some Kazzsports blue mirrors. They don't need auto dim and they are wired for defrost already. Think I got them for like $300 or $350 easy swap.

those look nice....in the northeast I would prefer the heated plus I think the autodim is the 3rd best thing since sliced bread! I notice it more now, but funny how that's after 4 mos., even when my wife mentioned it in Dec....but my driver's side seems good....

Had a very similar thing happen to a Buick Park Avenue I had ages ago. The whole bottom of the mirror had a crusty build up along the lower edge and the mirror eventually had no gel left in it.
