Thanks. I have new Michelin Premier AS tires. Are these ok on a trip that may have a little snow (2-3" over mountain passes). I'd rather not get snows for just 1 trip. Doesn't really snow much in Sacramento CA
I have the same tires and they did great in up to 8 inches of snow. A few inches will be fine. Leave the traction control off as it only makes things worse when going up hills and it cuts power losing your momentum.
That 60 foot has room for improvement. I'd think with a stickier tire or different launch technique you could get that down to 2.0 to 2.1 and be in the mid 14s.
Potentially, the quoted 1/4 mile time is 14.8 ET, and I gave it every possible chance I could within my budget to hit that time. The smaller diameter rear tyres I had on there (205/55/16 Michelin somethings at 22psi) give it a slightly better run out of the hole, and I had a few solid launches where it hooked up damn well. I might try find some wider tyres but with a similar overall circumference and see how that goes. Not at all keen on trying out the 275's on my 20s though
I filled her up with 93 and logged the worst mpgs since getting the car. 14.1. OUCH. I always track avg mph as well, which was 17. This means almost all driving around town, etc.
So far I have the following done, most recently [as of 30 minutes ago from writing] changing some of the exterior lights to LED's

[if money were no issue]
*Replace every part of the suspension / control arms
*Custom speakers, wiring, and amplifiers while keeping the looks as stock as possible and taking up no trunk space
*Double panned windows would be nice like on UL's
Hand washed and waxed today. Also redid my passenger front door lock actuator because it was making a clunk noise. Had it out, repaired, and back in in about 30 minutes.
I might do the rear brake pads today. Might being the operative word here. But the R/R is down on the steel now and its covering my brand new wheels in iron filings every time I drive it, and I want to drive it now so I probably should
On Black Onyx 2006 with 135K miles: Replaced idler pulley, installed 2016 Navigation disc, replaced windshield wipers (refills), and new front brake pads (rear pads tomorrow).
For my Mercury Metallic 2006, had new Michelin snow tires mounted to new chrome wheels.
I had the winter tires installed on the 2005 finally. Dealership installed them and also did a nice job cleaning the car for me. They gave me a NX200T to use while the LS was in the shop. Not bad, but after driving the LS, the ride of the NX gets a little tiring after a while.
check air in my tires today, 1st time since I bought them. low was 29.5 and high was 32. so off to the gas station where I set them to 36 all around. it was about 60 degrees outside. now it is night and 46. and it is 34 all around. a little more than I would like but I will wait a week or 2 to adjust them again. I guess this is normal, station is about a mile so tires should not have been hot at all when I set them.

I took the LS to Lowes to get some JB Weld (hey it works lol)
Checked and I put the snows on, Dec. 3., on both RWD cars. So I've been grinding the Xice's into the pavement for nearly 3 weeks. Well, maybe next year I'll wait until Dec. 15, and save 2 weeks wear!
btw here's how the OEM Lexus front rotors look after 2 mos. on the car. Note--the selling dealership put them on, and as I had requested, they even put antiseize on the hubs. Seriously, that's integrity!
Here's how OEM BMW rotors look after 10 mos. on the car. The antiseize is my doing. However, the originals, came right off with my fist. Note how BMW has no lugs, so without a locator bolt, it's really difficult to keep the rotor in its place.
Now to be fair, the Lexus have about 3k on them, the BMW about 1k. I am all about the hats. Look how badly aftermarkets rust (rotors are in spec and pads almost new from prev owner)
To my 2005
2005 Cyprus Pearl with Roderick Wheels Rear Brakes
I added new Akebono front and rear ceramic brake pads, new drilled and slotted rotors, painted calipers and added Lexus logo stickers and new stop tech braided steel brake lines. Unfortunately the brakes are still soft and mushy. I did the same changes on my 2002 GS300 and the brakes were very firm. We bled them ourselves and then I had a shop bleed them and it was a little better.
