That was a very interesting read. Based on the information provided on that blog regarding ignition, restricted throttle input, etc., it makes me wonder if the stock ECU tuning of the 2GR-FSE is different between the older 2IS350 and the newer 3IS350 and RC350.

It's very well known on the forums that the 2IS350 is noticeably faster than the 3IS350 and RC350 in both 0-60 and 1/4 mile times. Previously, it's been suspected that the aggressive final drive ratio of the 2IS350 is the reason why the 2IS350 is the faster of the three cars but when you multiple the final drive ratio with the transmission gear ratios (i.e. 1st or 2nd gear) between the three cars, the ratio is fairly close to one another.

It makes me wonder if a restricted ECU tune might be the culprit as to why you don't get the same "pushed back in your seat" feeling in 1st and 2nd gear with the newer model 3IS350 and RC350 as you do with the 2IS350...

Very interesting read. Curious though as to how significant the changes they make will be. Seems like there is a lot more potential for this engine than we know. Maybe their Facebook post claim of 'more than 50hp' and 8000 rpm might not be so off...

So, as I've been continually researching for my secondary vehicle, I've seen the aftermarket has recently developed a high pressure fuel pump that increases fuel delivery by nearly 100% over factory (this was for my specific vehicle). I feel that we might down the road finally have a TRUE ability to not only tune BUT get the adequate fuel delivery to boost these motor to cut loose their true potential.

Thanks for that post - I agree with the above statements it is an interesting read.
Gives me high hopes with what they're doing at the least.

I would definitely be interested, but I would rather have increased power in 2000-5000 rpm. Being able to run to 7200 would be nice, but it ads more stress to the system. Of course a speedier transmission would help.

Would this work with our cars and how much do you think it would effect performance with a tune?

They would have to make one specific for our motor; but the technology is here now to make it happen. Imagine being able to bolt-in a HPFP, throw on a turbo kit, tune it, and having over my est 500+whp.

All of this news is very exciting indeed. Not sure if you are all aware of it yet but OV has already posted up their tune for sale but only for the 3IS's? They claim 18-26 hp and 18-20 lb-ft on 91% octane with a bone stock car. Also claims 93 may bring better results and that with a higher redline they mentioned getting up to a 50hp gain but didn't really specify how they got there. Also no redline increase is available yet so I imagine they are indeed working on some aftermarket parts for our cars to get us to that 8000rpm they claimed not too long ago. Regardless I am very excited and can't to see what becomes of this!

Now all I need is to get my car up and running again

I see. Probably would have more of an effect on any supercharged IS350s because I don't think there is a single turbo'd car out there.

^Sure! But that's because of not having a tuning option NOR additional fuel delivery previous to now. A properly sized turbo(s) for a 3.5L would have mad lag and would be almost useless for the money put into it. But now with the ability to fuel beast an estimated 75% more fuel into the direct injectors AND to be able tune it, this will finally open-up opportunities for those (like myself) that have been wanting to run a single/twin turbo setup.

Any updates? Now that I know there is some real potential with our engines, I'm very eager to see what can be done.

Great news!!! OV Tuning just posted on a Lexus group on Facebook the results of the tune on a bone stock 91 octane 3IS! The typical results are around 30whp and lbft ! Not only that but I also asked about transmission tuning for the 2IS , and he said they finally got it! He said it was very complicated hence why it took so long but they can finally tune it . Also in regards to the engine tune , I asked about Rev limit increases and he said the Stage 1 tune gains 30whp approximately but with a lower 7200 RPM Redline where as there soon to be announced Stage 2 tune will see a possibly even bigger gain with a 7500Rpm Redline! ! ! ! ! ! !

I'm super stoked! Even better is that the 2IS typically post better results with the tune for some reason. Works for me

According to their Facebook account, they are due to release some dyno graphs today. I grabbed a few of their posts:

Orangevirus Tuning We will have our dyno results published Nov 10th. Transmission work has been done for the RWD

Orangevirus Tuning 8k RPM is going to be with our headwork and cams. 7500 rpm stock motor.

Orangevirus Tuning we have seen very large gains above 6500, where the stock tune falls off, we have seen gains of more than 50hp

Orangevirus Tuning bone stock no, with modified lifters yes. Our stock valve train tune will be limited to 7500.

Here is a hopefully better picture for the dyno graph. Bone stock down to the filter and on 91 octane.
