The exterior door handles on LS400 use rubber cushions to dampen the door handle plate when it retracts into the handle assembly.

The front rubber cushions were brittle on the 99 LS400 so decided to replace all 8 (two/door handle).

Rubber cushion easy to access without removing door handle assembly.



Carefully extract by gripping rubber cushion with small needle nose pliers. The tails separated from all front door bumpers...but not the rears.<br/><br/>The handles sound a little quieter when closing.<br/><br/>Coat new parts with **** Etsu grease.<br/><br/>

 

Looks like the same part on a Gen 1 as well. Gosh the ones on my 90 were still soft? Must be the Ca weather.
