Not even close, especially of that era, Mercedes has made some nice looking cars but their sedans are not one of them.
Seriously? I'm not sure how you can look at an LS400 and not know exactly where Lexus was cribbing from. These days, many manufacturers are getting more than a little design inspiration from BMW, including Lexus.

The best looking NEW car design on the road today is the Challenger and I'm not into mopars all that much, second would be the Camaro, all you have to do is look at the roof line in a profile and you will see what I mean, as compared to all the rest of the pimple tops.
The Challenger isn't bad, but those Chevys are pretty ugly. Corvettes have been consistently ugly since the 50's/early 60s. Chevy never has been much for making good-looking cars.

The first gen is a nice looking car and the second gen carry over with a few added styling refined it. I felt the rear passenger door glass on the first gen was a bit small. I liked the way Toyota did the rear door glass as one piece even if the tilting glass was a compensation for the wheel well arch. The BMW E32 and 38 7 Series L versions had nice cabin space.

I like most of the Harley Earl designed stuff of the mid to late 50's that was styling. 57 and 58 Cadillac's and the

Corvette's were the best till 1967, then it was all down hill for them.

This looks nothing like a 1990 LS400 profile, similarities yeah but more like a few ideas taken here and there.

Couldn't agree more about the 1990 LS400..I, love the lines of mine and enjoy a smile every time I drive it. Everyday people can't believe it's a 27 year old car...**** neither can i.

the front ends on the 95-97 look much better than the first gens...but i like the azz ends on the first gen as the later years got to be a little gaudy for my taste

I finally got a picture to work right. So here is the $1000 wonder. 133,000 miles with a few paint and body imperfections it shines nicely.

Beautiful car, Dicer! All of ours have imperfections, but you can't go wrong for $1k. Love the color.

Yeah I like the color too. #1 has dark brown interior like it lots. This ones cream. And yeah its in way better shape than lots of the over priced junkers on craigslist. I really would just like one in really top shape though. And colors? Anything other than white or black.

Before I owned an LS, I always thought of Ichiro Suzuki of the NYY.

I love that photo of Ichiro and the LS 400 from 1989/1990, though.

You might like this photo as well, showing Shoichiro Toyoda inspecting Lexus cars coming off the production line in Tahara.

Celsior thank you nice picture, I'd love to see more of the factory. I remember when I first saw an LS400 at an auto show in the now gone King dome I think it was a 1990, I even got literature and figured the only way I'd ever own one is when they were old and worthless, like now. I goofed up and gave the brochure to a guy I worked with that liked LS400's. And have since paid for the same thing I gave away years ago. Looks like clear parking lights ???

You're very welcome.

I have a few more somewhere, but there aren't too many. Quality of the photos is also lacking for some.

I wish I was there, back in 1990! That's awesome. Although, I wouldn't say they're worthless now; rather, worth less than before.

The lower parking lights and signals are actually amber in the photo, but the grayscale effect makes them look clear. It fooled me upon first inspection as well.

Here is another photo, taken at the Tahara plant. I'll look for more on my disk drive. I have been collecting them on the internet.
