The only reason they have those flaps is so that its easier to close the trunk and doors. Think about it, when you slam the door closed, a bunch of air is whooshing into the car, putting resistance against the door or trunk closing. The flaps open and let the air pressure out, so the door or trunk is easier to close.

I'll give you a good example of this on a couple of cars I owned. First one was a 1999 Z28 Camaro. That car had the big huge hatch with the giant rear window that opened up, all one piece. To close that hatch, you had to slam it like a **** or it wouldn't fully latch because of the air pressure. Now if you had a door open or the t-tops off and shut the hatch, it was super easy, because that rush of air would go out the door. GM's solution to that problem that they used on 80's Camaros was one of those trunk pull down motors. But you know how your girlfriend would always slam the trunk and break that motor, so they quit using it in the later cars.

My 1992 Lexus SC300 is the same way, you have to slam the huge *** doors on that car because of the air pressure. If the other door or window is open, its then very easy to close the opposite door because that air has somewhere to go.

Sadly i agree.. I started this thread to help out fellow is-f owners with that darn sulfur smell.. Now it has become a circus because 2 little boys decided to make it one..
