I am selling a 1995 Lexus SC300 M/T (5-speed manual) California-Emissions ECU.
Toyota/Lexus P/N 89661-24380.
Asking $155 shippedSOLD
A member sold this to me in November of last year. I used it in my car for about two months before removing it. Operation was fine on my 1993 SC300 5-speed Cali-Spec chassis but I could not continue using this due to the O2 sensors for 1995 SC300 Cali models being heated (my 1993 model never came with heated O2 sensors). This is not the fault of the ECU. The computer was simply too new for my car.
This ECU has not been sent to Tanin or another facility for repair but is in good working order. Other than the heated O2 sensor incompatibility with my specific vehicle it was fine.
Disclaimer (and really to make sure you know what you would be buying): This ECU is specifically going to be useful to anyone with a 1995 SC300 Cali-Spec Emissions model but not other model years. It is also not going to be the ideal ECU for any Federal Emissions model. Using this on a 1992-1994 SC300 M/T Federal or Cali model will result in a permanent CEL light and possible rich fuel condition under some driving conditions (since the ECU will be trying to compensate for the O2 sensors not being warmed up immediately upon startup). ALL model year Cali-Spec SC300's also have a 3rd O2 sensor on the second catalytic convertor which this ECU will want to see.
Even though this is technically an OBD1 ECU (1995) in this specific Cali Emissions type it will differ from 1992-1994 SC300 Cali Emissions M/T ECUs that are also OBD1.
This is an ECU specifically for use with 1995 SC300's with Cali-Spec Emissions (and of course a manual transmission).
Heh. Well, I assure you it's much worse if you're in the position of actually *needing* the right Cali M/T ECU and having to madly search for one.
Are you looking for an M/T ECU, eknine9?
Coincidentally, look at dohc3ltt's thread that just popped up. Looks like he's selling a 1995 Supra M/T ECU himself as of today... and it is probably a Federal type. If so, it would probably be P/N 89661-14590. Supra M/T ECU P/N's are also listed in that info thread I posted above. PM and ask him.
I'm not sure if 1995 Federal ECU's require heated O2 sensors or not. And I do not have a part number for '95 M/T Federal ECU's to verify with at this time, sorry. That list is 90% complete but still missing a few numbers.
No I don't need one, Tanin rebuilt mine last year. I was just commenting on the silliness of regulations requiring so many different control modules for the same car depending on which state it's going to be in.
Oh, I agree. It is convoluted for these cars and a few others from the era. I *think* the reason boils down to the SC being released during a certain time period when California was very rapidly changinng their emissions requirements so quickly leading up to standardized OBD2 that it was all Toyota could do to keep up by issuing new ECU programming or heated O2 sensors or GTE style crank sensor provisions (1996+) incrementally every couple of years.
This ECU I am selling probably is the best example of it because it required certain OBD2 hardware in 1995 that wasn't widely required until 1996-1997 for the rest of the country. AND it's still not actually OBD2 like a 1996 ECU.
