Ryan the 3.92 works great that what i had in my SC, the 3.26 was too low for the street.

7hrs ryan haha i know you can do better than that, so are you gonna pull the motor out of the Supra to do all the maintenance?

I'm thinking the 3.92 will be nice. I might put the 3.92 ring gear into the 3.26 case if I like the gearing so that I can retain the torsen.

Your right, I probably could pull the trans and get it install in 7hrs.

Far as the Supra- I'm not sure yet, lol.

You are correct that would decrease the RPMs.

I hope it takes only 7 hours. I dont have air tools, so we will see. Any ideas to take out the flywheel bolts out? I think it will just spin the motor.

You could probably just hold the crank bolt to keep it from turning.

I had a neighbor hold the crank while I loosened the old bolts and tightened the new bolts.

*the OEM bolts come with a red loctie sealer type stuff on them so that oil doesn't work it's way past the bolt.

If you use ARP, you will need to use something to block the oil like FIPG black on the threads or blue loctite.

Basically the flywheel boltholes are drilled through the crank and oil from the pan can slosh right into the holes.

Even though I used FIPG on the ARPs I took out, I noticed that oil was very slightly seeping from one of the bolts. Just a trickle.

The OEM flywheel bolts have a bunch of this red thread sealer stuff on them to prevent oil from the pan working it's way through the threads.

Even though I used FIPG black on the ARP flywheel I took out, I noticed a trickle of oil coming through one of the bolts.

I've been wanting to record some MPH/RPM numbers.

Once I install the 3.92 diff this weekend I'll make note of the new numbers.

The W58/R154 will be almost identical for these numbers so it doesn't matter which trans your running.

Basically what I'm saying here is that the W58 or R154 with the 4.08 rear gears are a tad too short for daily driving when you have 300HP or more, IMO-


EDIT:mph numbers slightly changed after using GPS to verify
These numbers are with the W58/4.08 differential combo
comfortable shift point..
2nd gear 38mph@3100rpm
3rd gear 45mpg @3100rpm
4th gear 55mph@3100rpm

Cruising gear and rpm's at different cruising speeds
5th gear-
63mph@2700rpm
68mph@2900rpm
73mph@3100rpm(this kills fuel economy, it would be better to be turning around 2500rpm here in 5th)

Hmmm... I have no problems passing in 6th gear...

Question, why remove the PP bolts while tranny is still on? If you loosen the motor mounts and jack up the motor you can get it out that way. Thats what I did.
