Who's to say that the iQ will be more expensive than the Yaris

It looks the interior material were GREATLY cheapened compared to the Euro model, so the price will probably be a bit lower here in the US than the Euro models price. Just look at the seating fabric...

This thing was cheapened to the point where I wouldn't be surprised if it was $10K or slightly below.

 

Have you seen a base European iQ? It comes with exactly the same cheap dials as the Yaris' and costs more than the base Yaris. I expect the same to be the case when it arrives here.

 

eww. I've only seen the upmarket variants

let's hope Toyota prices it lower here in the US, because I can't see many people getting this car if it cost more than a Yaris. The Smart Fortwo cost less than that...

 

I was very hyped about this car when it debuted but now I like it but don't love it. I am very happy it is here though. MPG is going to be a crucial selling factor as price. As we can see SMART sales are a pittance now.

This thing is a engineering and packaging marvel but that point will be lost on people who just bash tiny cars.

 

Not happy about the changes that were made. The Scion version looks much worse.

Most motorcycles don't even get 50mpg.

SMART gets 33/41 mpg with a 1.0L 3-cylinder engine (70 hp).

Unless if this was a hybrid, I would expect 40mpg highway from the iQ with a 1.5L I-4 engine (which is about 100hp).

 

I'd say high 40's. But yeah... as I said before, talk about dropping the ball.

 

it's still cute though. i'll take this over Smart in a heart beat.
