1st of all, that car look nothing like the R8. Second of all, the Chinese are just doing what every other car manufacturer is doing when it is starting up. Just like what the Koreans are doing right now. Why do you thing their cars are so cheap, it is becasue they spend less money on design.

There is a difference between copying design elements of another car and cloning another car. The Chinese are doing the latter. The Japanese and Korean were never this blatant in copying other cars.

Have you seen the Genesis? MB S class front, BMW 5 series rear and GS side, they have managed to clone 3 cars
I just saw this Chinese audi R8 rip off. I think its hilarious. I am sure Audi is not happy with this design.
It's obvious that the S11's designers have looked to the Audi R8 and any number of recent Ferraris for design inspiration, both inside and out. As far as we can tell, the resulting mashup isn't all that bad – minus the one-size-too-small alloys and those awkward Audi-esque blades on either side.
While some of the lines are a little bit too similar, this isn't nearly as bad as some of the outright "cloning" where one could basically swap body parts btwn the Chinese maker and the original.

It's not so much that it is easier, but rather that looking similar gives greater credance to an upstart brand.

The PRC is now pretty much a Fascist state - a totalitarian oligarchy/dictatorship w/ tight reigns over the military and media w/ big business having close relations to govt.

Have you seen the LS430? Pretty much S Class all-around.
And uhh, it's the 5 Series, not the GS side (gee, what does that say about the GS' side? Not to mention the 2nd gen GS' front which many claimed to be lifted from the E Class), w/ the Hofmeister kink (which, pretty much everyone has lifted; look at the new Subaru Legacy) and the rear being more like the 3 Series than the 5.
