Well not to get off topic but they decided to install the dash rattle TSIB kit when I brought it in for a suspension creak. Well now i still have a suspension creak plus a misaligned nav unit (1/8" gaps), they broke the clips on the garnish next to the shifter and forgot a screw in the base of the nav unit so who knows.

Now on topic yeah headlight check shouldn't hurt the body and really the could scratch you bumper changing the oil.

I have not notice any bounce in my headlights.

Has anyone been able to figure out if this is normal behavior or not?

I find it quite annoying living in Chicago with not so smooth road surfaces.

probably due to AFS that the headlight is sensitive to movements, it happens on mine, doesn't bother me at all

just enjoy the car

I do enjoy the car!

The problem is there are so many bumps here that I sometimes find myself focusing on the vibrating light beams instead of the road.

I had an Audi S5 which had AFS and never noticed this behavior once.

My car does it too. It's nice to know I'm not alone. I'm not sure if it started after I adjusted the headlamps?

It’s the characteristic of the projector, you car is actually moving when you hit a pothole. Up and down, maybe a slight rebound due to your suspension.

The characteristic of the projectors cutoff magnifies the vibration / movement of the car.

if the vibration is that noticeable, it sounds like your headlights are aimed way too low. The auto-level feature is noticeable when driving up/down steep hills or braking hard but shouldn't be distracting when hitting pot holes. Check the headlight aiming bubble and I suspect you'll find it's toward the back meaning the lights are aimed low.

Incidentally, the headlight assembly is only held in w/ 3 bolts (lower outside where it meets the fender, top where the fender attaches under hood and inside behind the grille). The bumper cover comes off easily to access: seven 10mm bolts underneath, one 10mm bolt under the upper corner (access behind wheel well liner) on each side where it meets fender, one 10mm bolt dead center behind grille under hood, and two 10mm bolts plus one black plastic clip on each side above the headlight housing (actually these both connect to the headlight housing so I guess you could say the light assembly is held in w/ 5 bolts ). Attached are directions which are accurate except they say there is only one 10mm bolt topside above each headlight (where there are 2).

I just removed my bumper cover yesterday as I had to realign the light assembly after my dear hit a deer a few weeks back . Luckily the only damage done was the whole light assembly got pushed down 1/4 inch. No tabs broken, nothin' Boy did I/we luck out [knock on wood]. Total time to remove, adjust light assembly and reinstall bumper cover was a little over 1.5 hours (would've been much less if I'd only had "much less" adult beverages Sat evening )

anyhow, to adjust the aim of your headlights, just do a search as there are many threads on how to.

sooner or later, maybe within 5 years, everything will be broken or loose.

gears, lights. this thing will be a broken hunk of junk.

the more the gadgets, the more things to break.

I've noticed this on my GS, even more so with the stiffer suspension. Interesting but this happens on the IS-F as well.
