Our GS's have high friction brake pads. They give up more brake dust than usual. Due to the excessive brake dust lexus has issued a TSIB for the newer gs models up to 07. They replace your current brake pads with a "dustless" brake pad that gives off less dust but under certain circumstances and situation might not perform better than the high friction ones. Itll last longer IMHO but I rather have that , than excessive brake dust.
i have had my new pads for over 5k miles already. to be honest, i don't see any degrade in braking power. it grabs just as good for all my needs

ok gotcha. i thought thats what it meant but wasnt positive. so pretty much they replace the pads with ceramic pads that give off way less brake dust.
I'm also interested in the details... I haven't been able to ask to have it done b/c I bought the car in winter up here and really couldn't tell. But after washing the car a few times, the front pads/rims are coated in black... takes me an hour and a half clean all 4 rims.
When does this problem start to show up? My car only has 52 miles on it... :-)
Is this one of those things where "if you see it, you'll know it" -- that is, huge amounts of black dust on the rims? Or do I have to look a bit more carefully for it...?
1989Lexus, are you having something else done at the dealer. I cant imagine a brake job would take more than 1 day.
Yes I posted this in a thread, i am having some squeeking in my shocks/struts. They are looking/working on that now.

Yes you'll notice it on your car soon enough, Your front rims will be darker coated with brake dust. More so than your rear ones. BTW where in MA are you from mcukier?

it's very noticeable, not even funny
mcukier, we have a private message function, please utilize that and stay on topic in this thread
cause was break squeak? lol that's funny. in any case, 20 miles for test drive, that sounds pretty excessive....
i will add this thread to the tips thread
yeah, thats what they put for cause.. pretty ridiculous. I can take a pic of the invoice if you guys want to see.( one of the reasons why i dislike watertown ) but i will stop going there after my 5k service lol shhh
