i have had my new pads for over 5k miles already. to be honest, i don't see any degrade in braking power. it grabs just as good for all my needs

ok gotcha. i thought thats what it meant but wasnt positive. so pretty much they replace the pads with ceramic pads that give off way less brake dust.

I'm also interested in the details... I haven't been able to ask to have it done b/c I bought the car in winter up here and really couldn't tell. But after washing the car a few times, the front pads/rims are coated in black... takes me an hour and a half clean all 4 rims.

1989Lexus, are you having something else done at the dealer. I cant imagine a brake job would take more than 1 day.

When does this problem start to show up? My car only has 52 miles on it... :-)

Is this one of those things where "if you see it, you'll know it" -- that is, huge amounts of black dust on the rims? Or do I have to look a bit more carefully for it...?

Yes you'll notice it on your car soon enough, Your front rims will be darker coated with brake dust. More so than your rear ones. BTW where in MA are you from mcukier?

Hey 1989-

I live in Brookline, I work in Watertown.

I'm from Chicago originally, but I've been out here for about 11 years now (since the beginning of college)...

Howabout yourself?
