Default DRL bulb

Hi fellow CL 2IS members

I recently changed my headlight to 6500K HID and it looks great! the only problem is my DRL (which is on even at night) looks really incoherent with my HID at night. I was wondering what type of bulb does the DRL use so I can change it to matching color with my HID and fog. Is the DRL the high beam's bulb?

Also I'm sure you guys know that when the HID is on and you shine it across a large area you will see a kink on the drivers side (i didn't really notice the passenger side's). My problem is that the kink is directly in front of driver's side. Is that normal?

Thank you

DRL= daylight running lights. Why is your DRL on when driving at night?

Sorry for thread jacking. Wait, so the city lights are the ones that we see at night that does not match the low beams and fogs? So, with HIDs if we wanted to match it, we change the city lights not the DRLs, right? The city lights are only on when we turn on the headlights/at night? Thanks

yup... city lights are only on when the low beams are on. DRLS are only on in Daytime Driving. But i wouldnt change the DRL because the DRLs are highbeams and highbeams are pretty important when driving...

I had the dealer turn off my daytime running lights and just removed the bulbs for the city/parking lights. HUGE improvement

I've seen this homemade pic several times, and some of the information on it is wrong. To remedy some of this confusion, here's the diagram from the factory service manual with all the correct nomenclature and functions:

So Javy, according to this illustration, there is no city lights? Or is the parking and city lights the same?

^^ Nice pic Javier....

Any chance they supplied a complete Size of each bulb on the next page...?
Having it all together like this makes it even better...

Also, what are members doing with the "Front Side Marker Light"??

Good thing I kept my aftermarket bulbs from my IS300.

Jz

I haven't really seen anyone do anythign about it since it isn't removeable last i heard. The only mod that can be done to it is get it painted but then you have to bake the headlight to open up and disect which just seems a lot of work.
