i have been looking through the archives for a while now but no luck
i had diamond audio seperates put in the front and rear doors and a jl audio 12ib4 installed with a punch 240.4 running the highs and a punch 225.2 running the sub
the shop i took it to was having a hard time finding the signal to hook up the line-out-converters so the ended up using the wires after the factory amp
the problem i have the gain is all the way down on both amps but at high volume the highs seam to distort and the sub can't handle the bass level on the factory deck over zero at a high level or it distorts also
if anyone has any insight on this or what i can do to have this fixed i would greatly appreciate it
My 1990 LS has an amp running off the stock deck, and the gain has to be wayyy down or else it distorts really bad. I tried using 2 line output convertors, one on the amp and a single unit one- neihter helped with distortion. I think both of us are going to have to go to the way of a new deck with REAL RCA connections!
Guys, post in the Lexus Electronics section. Percy and Mean Gene are the ones to get answers from. The Lexus head unit requires the use of line level converters and you should be using adjustable ones that will knock down the head unit output before it goes to the outboard amps. But, like I said, move over to the Electronics board and you should get some qualified help.
Well, here is what I have in mine... I have a 99 gs300. I am running the factory amp, speakers and head unit. I added a punch 100dsm, an audio control 2x, and a JL audio w6 in a small box. It rocks.... Very clean tight bass. I tapped into the back driver side door with an Alpine high/low level converter. Like I said, it sounds real tight. I am going to be getting a JL/Kicker free air because I do not want the box. But it works real well. I am getting the signal(remote) from the back of the head unit. If anyone wants more specific info, pm me or post a reply and I can try to help you out....
