I've heard that low dust pads come at the expense of more wear and tear on your rotors. Any truth to this? I hate the dust, but would rather have that than pay to resurface my rotors 20K-30K early.
Well I hope not. I just called and spoke to a service advisor and my new brake pads are on order. I went though Lexus of Sacramento, and they knew about the TSIB and knew that it had been updated for the IS250, but warned that the new pads might be on national back order due to high volume of requests and that they would call me back as soon as they found out. So, as soon as they get em theyre going on! YAY! no more dust on my chromies!
Last week went to my dealer with a print out of this TSB. They asked me if I wanted my rotors resurfaced at a price of $215; and I told them I'll think about it because I didnt want to commit at the time. So today is the day I dropped my car off and my service advisor says there's another page to this TSB that includes the rotors be changed as well!!!??? I didnt even bother to second guess--so they're replacing my pads and rotors
Another page to replace the rotors too???? Really... Are you able to get a hold of that cuz my dealer in S. CA wants to charge me $200 something for resurfacing the rotors to get the TSIB done. Let us know, thanks.

Yea really I wanna see that page too! not that I need it as my car only has like 1500 miles on it, but i still wanna know!

I actually haven't seen this second page... my dealer informed me.
There is no second page. The rotors are NOT covered. The dealer MAY do the rotors at their discretion under good-will.
I highly doubt this. I cant confirm a second page; but my dealer isn't about to say "Hey, do you want new rotors too?". My service adviser told me they looked into the TSB and there was "another page with additional parts list". They're not going to just make that up--if they were to install new rotors on their behalf then Im sure they would have informed me while at the same time, giving themselves credit for the great service.

The proof is in the pudding! I guess you haven't seen this. I posted it earlier in this thread.

Well we know there is a "second page", but what being dicussed here is a second page saying something about getting the rotors changed too when changing the brake pads to the new ones.

The TSB that I posted in the .pdf file is a copy of the entire TSB. There is no other revisions or pages to speak of. I just checked TIS again 5 minutes ago just to be sure. Again, the rotors will not be covered by the TSB but a dealer certainly could replace them under the factory warranty (not TSB) or do a good-will replacement to retain a higher level of customer service.

yea, my service adviser did not mention any kind of TSIB for rotors at this time and recommended me to come back in a few months because the technicians had recommended to do so.
It's possible my dealer decided to do it now knowing that I would be knocking on their door when the rotor TSB does come out.
I get most of my information online--often before my service advisers are aware. With this revised TSB, along with the tranny oil TSB, I was the first to bring it to their attention. There's also not as many 2IS around here than in other regions meaning less complaints are reported.
