Drivers wonder how long high gas prices will last and if they should go EV
Because for many of us, there's something visceral and enjoyable about ICE. The mechanical aspect, the noise, the way they drive.
You know, things that have appealed to car enthusiasts for decades. I really don't get why there's a subset of EV owners who act like there is nothing to like about ICE and that everybody should want an EV. Surely there was a time where you liked engines?

Me neither, I don't think I could keep a car 25 years. That's a really long time lol. I'm generally a 10 year guy and then see what's out there I like. The IS 500 is a rare bird though, maybe I'll keep it longer than 2034 but we'll see.
As far as gas prices go, I'm similar to others in the thread. It's not even a blip on my radar financially.

Two cars I have access to and have recently driven:

perhaps the morale of the whole unnecessary gas price increase is that there are options now that protect car owners from oil/gas price shocks. In the past it was down sizing to a smaller 3 or 4 cylinder motor...now owners can have more power/performance and less dependency on foreign oil. Gas is $5US a gallon here, diesel is $7US a gallon here....makes an EV kind of a no-brainer if the fuel price shocks are a thing of the future.
There's just a certain subset of them that are snobbish about it, either from an environmentalist perspective or a tech/advancement perspective that look down their nose on ICE cars and see them as primitive nasty tech that couldn't possibly be enjoyable. To them, the things that drew a lot of car guys to cars for decades are an ugly inconvenience.
Now let's not go that far. I think a lot of EV owners get genuine enjoyment from driving them, and they should!

I wonder where someone being a bit of an insufferable douche because of their incessant complaining about EV owners being insufferable douches would place on the Morissette Scale, the official internationally-accepted unit of measure for irony.
