The wife's 2004 RX 330 is getting a little banged up and would like to spruce it up for her. The rear bumper cover is in not-so-good shape, with a busted light and a cut.
The front is also a little scratched up here and there.
The front could probably get by with just paint or touch up. The rear is probably best replaced.
I did some quick checking. An unpainted rear bumper cover on eBay is about $100. I can buy one already painted to match for $310. Might be willing to try to swap it myself if it's not too difficult.
I have used a one man business body shop that did good work and was very inexpensive a few years ago. I might let him have a go at it. He's notoriously slow on getting back to me with a quote from prior experience, so I thought I'd do a little legwork.
What would you do if this was your car? What's a ballpark repair price range for something like this?
To the OP; I replaced a rear side marker on mine and it's not bad at all. Book calls for bumper removal etc, but it's not necessary. Marker light is held on by one bolt (10 or 12mm can't recall), but its hard to see it. Lay under your rear bumper and feel up in there where the light is and you'll feel the bolt. I used the socket, a universal connection, and a long 12" extension. Reach up in there blindly and find bolt, get socket with u joint and long extension on it and remove it. Then pull light out and disconnect small wiring harness attached. New marker has bulb in it. Think I paid around 70$ for my marker off mylparts.com.
To 5W40, good job on that repair and nice write up and pics as usual.
