Another GS brake thread
So, I stopped counting at around 25+ brake pad brand names for the GS 350/450 Fsport.
There are a dozen or more brake threads here; lots of reading. The IS threads share some of that info too.
So here goes. I’m at almost 33k miles. Getting a pretty consistent pad signal (whistle) for low pad thickness. I’m no stranger to changing out pads so that’s not a problem and I am definitely not letting Lexus service do it.
How much more pad between the front and rear? And what are you experienced with how long before the rears wear compared to the front? Usually the rears last longer - a lot longer.
I drive it pretty consistently aggressive but not race it. Don’t need high temp ceramics. Live in VA so I get four seasons for weather. Half city half highway.
Low dust would be nice. And of course nobody likes the squeals.
Akebono? EBC? And no, I don’t have the clicky front.

I got the pad the OP commented on and LOVE them. I have nearly 20k miles on them and they are still in good shape. Much less dust than OEM and no change in brake feel/bite. I drive very aggressively and trust them completely. I had the Akebono ceramic pads on my 535i and noticed a change in feel (not for the better). I continued to run them because the dust was so much better. The AZ pads are the best of both worlds IMHO

The reason I bring it up is this thread is pretty outdated. Lots of chatter about outdated part numbers and cMax not even being available anymore. I took notes and will check it out.

And while I was at service I had them tell me the pad thickness. I’m at 33k miles:
Front currently at 8/32 (6mm) and rear at 12/32 (10mm).
I run it pretty hard so I was surprised. I’m on par to make about 45k miles before needing pads up front and 70k for the rears. They said hybrids will get longer life based on the regenerative system aiding towards slowing the car.
Whatever.
I guess I don’t need pads anytime soon. Haha
