It's been a great week, watching all the PBS and CBS space-related specials due to the 50th anniversary.
I also happened to see the Apollo 11 movie on an IMAX screen, earlier this year.

Keep trying, guys...

This week, we celebrate the 50th anniversary of the greatest engineering achievement ever - the 1969 Apollo 11 moon landing.
And only one watch was indelibly associated with the US space program -...

Misleading Thread Title

I don't think that'll be debated much. Thanks for sharing your experience.

And, to the OP - your car is an '07. Just because you've only owned it a month doesn't make it "new".

Thumbs up Found two cheap tire shops in North OC for used sales/mounting/balancing

I spent the last few months searching for a cheap economical tire source, and I found two vendors worth mentioning.

Santa Ana Wheels, which is actually in Anaheim (www.santaanawheels.com), buys...

That is a very reasonable price for a dismount/rim cleanup/mount and balance, so I perfectly understand and agree with you to let them handle it.
Plus, as you noted, it was only one wheel giving you...

It's not a difficult DIY

You did not mention how much the tire shop charged you to do something that could have easily been done by most DIYers at home.
I wrote up the whole procedure here:...

Toyota Pink Coolant on sale for $18.95 until June 1st at Miller Toyota Anaheim

I know it's short notice, and it's for a very limited-time only, but for those sick of paying $30+ for a gallon of Toyota Pink 50/50, Miller Toyota (91 Freeway, Euclid Exit in Anaheim) has a special...

I'm no longer in touch with Hildi, the owner of the SC400 with that issue, so I can't say how or if it was resolved.
But in the ensuing years, we've all become more aware of the crucial role the ECU...

17 (!) years later.....

Now that miter saws (also known as chop saws) are more common, it's easy to cut a groove into a 4" piece of 2x4 to make a perfect "jack block".
It's a little hard to see, but the groove is slightly...

The 18" stock rim is only 7.5" wide???

Yikes, no wonder no one upsizes! (Without changing rims, I mean.)
https://tiresize.com/tiresizes/245-45R18.htm does not list ANY tires wider than the stock 245-45-18 size that would fit a 7.5" rim!

Question Looking to upsize ("upwide"?). Are 275-40-18's OK on the stock 18" rims?

I found a convenient site that lists equivalently-sized tires: https://tiresize.com/tiresizes/245-45R18.htm
When I put in the stock 18" size (245-45-18), quite a few comparable tire sizes show up.

Well, all three of you were right - spuds was right in that a replacement wasn't that expensive.
I found an ECU on eBay for ~$150.
It arrived today, and as Tanin predicted, it solved my problem...

What else besides caps go wrong with ECUs?

My ECU question does not directly pertain to caps, but since this is the definitive ECU thread on CL, I'll ask it here:

The ECU in my 92 SC400 seems to have failed (no start, no Check Engine...

Your "record" has been broken...

I think up until now that is record for the earliest reported O2 sensor failure in our cars, but my 2005 LS430 with 60,000 miles just threw the P0031 code!
This is a most dubious honor.
