Go with minimum 17" wheels (i would recommend 18"). Also, if you plan on keeping the car, consider spoke clearance as you would also probably want to do an LS400 brake caliper upgrade eventually.

IMO, you would need at least 19s on a car with an aftermarket bodykit (like those above in the pics). 18s is pretty proportional-looking on a stock SC (even with the 97 OEM kit).
