Yes, bushings can be done alone - think they're about $20? Easy enough DIY, but watch for seized bolts holding them in.

Sounds like an issue had (especially being worse in dry weather) - turned out to be the sway bar bushings. Quick squirt of silicone spray usually makes it disappear for a few months BTW.

DIY as well, and TBH I'd do it even if there were no cost saving (which there is!) - I'd just prefer to know how to do these things myself. And it's such an easy job too - raising the car correctly...

What's the symptoms of your problem? If the bulb lights for a few minutes and then goes out, but will re-light again if you flick the switch, the problem is almost certainly the bulb, not the ballast...
