Was this car ever serviced for the piston ring replacement? If not, then loose piston rings and carbon buildup is your problem. You can have the dealer perform a top engine clean, it won't be cheap.

Yes, they suck. Take it out and look for rust, the bolt is the ground for the harness. The part is cheap only a few bucks, I would replace it.

Nobody got letters about it in Canada. Doesn't really matter, if it had the symptoms during the campaign period you would have been responsible for taking it in for diagnosis and found out about it....

Yes it will help you not get stuck in the snow, but not a hell of a lot unless you have proper tires in the first place. It is 30/70 under normal operation and will adjust the ratio automatically...

My guess is you have blown fuse(s)/short, check them all. P0300 is misfires, but could also have been due to something shorting. If you find bown fuses and replace them and they blow right away...

Mine has been doing it for years. I suspect it's not an easy process to add lubrication to it. I bring my car in for the fuel sensor recall next week maybe I'll ask in passing what they can do...
