I just installed my SC430 mods unit and have no issues with AM/FM not working. Maybe a connection on your unit went bad?
Here is my opinion on the matter. I think of this unit as more of a wireless AUX in than a full modern integration. For that purpose, this unit has exceeded my expectations. Very easy to connect my phone, sound quality is amazing compared to my bluetooth cassette adapter. I could have tried soldering and hacking my radio to achieve a similar result, but the time/effort involved and the risk of damaging my stereo was too much for me. The SC430 mods guy went through all of that to make a plug and play unit that just works (for my case, at least).
When the time comes that I want a fully integrated system, I'm going to just buy an entire android auto head unit and kit. I feel like these other kits that promise full integration into the factory system have too many quirks and compromises to justify the price tag. A popular unit I wanted to use (don't remember the name, but its mentioned on this forum) was great, except had a bug where it was registered as a bluetooth headphone in your phone, causing the phone to cut volume after X minutes to "protect your hearing". That's when I decided to just get a simple AUX type kit for now until I'm ready for a full head unit upgrade.
So, was driving to the store yesterday and decided to call home to remind my wife of something. Hey Google, dial XXX-XXX-XXXX, and the phone rings.
My wife answers and she can't hear me. Rinse and repeat a couple of times, same result. Pull over and check all the settings, nothing untoward to see here.
When I get home, I test the phone in my Pilot which has the GTA Car kit. Microphone works fine.
Submit a ticket to Grom yesterday, no response as of yet.
I have an ugly feeling I'm going to be sending this one back as well.
The only positive was I found a phone number to call that will echo back the voice track. Good for testing.
After a bit of to-ing and fro-ing with Grom, I will be returning the unit for a refund. They refuse to send me another one before getting the old one back. I'm trying to minimize the number of times I take the car apart.
So I ordered one from GTA Car Kit. Will remove the Grom and return when I install the GTA.
As newbie '07 SC430 owner, after stumbling around various threads/posts, was wondering if there was any consensus on which specific model of GTA iproduct line is best solution.
I do not like older DVD dependent nav screen; want use of Google maps + keeping use of existing ML radio/sound system with added BT.
I'm DIY guy with average skills with electronics..
The GTA Car Kit showed up and it's installed and it works fine. Should have done this from the get go.
Could you please share which GTA Car Kit you got, the cost, and give a brief description of the install? I'm anxious to upgrade my 2008 in this manner if the price is affordable and the install isn't arduous.
Just a 'fyi' if anyone is looking for a SC430Mods Bluetooth-phone adapter I have one available. I used it for my Android phone tunes and phone calls for two months before replacing my head unit that came with those features.
It worked well for me (albeit Doobs noted shortcoming) given price, function and plug/play installation considerations, I was very satisfied with my purchase. Private message if interested. Thx

Sorry for the delayed response. Didn't see your request.

"maxprm" I appreciate your endorsement. If you don't find anyone interested in buying it, I'll offer you $50 in store credit for a return.
After taking the car 1/2 apart to get the XM-Radio adapters out, I got the adapter installed this afternoon. Still need to button everything back up.
About 90% certain this thing is going back. Waiting for some sort of response from Calvin.
None of the other radio modes function any longer. All I get is Bluetooth in all of the modes. Only the volume up/down, and mode buttons work on the steering wheel. No forward and backward. Definitely don't want to lose AM/FM/CD capability with this.
The GTA Car Kit in my Pilot has significantly better integration into the car....
I did manage to scratch up my shifter console really well. It was discolored before, now it looks dreadful. That one is on me....
cheers,
I am having the same issue. Wish I read this post prior to ordering from Calvin. I ask for an RMA on June 7th, and been trying to contact him after. It's July 1st and no RMA ;-(
