Default Engine light, VSC, VSC off lights. P1354 code

I purchased my 02 SC in January of 2019. It ran perfect except for a little squeak that could only be heard in a confined space.Lexus Master Certified tech (independent shop) determined the drive belt tensioner needed to be replaced. That was done along with valve cover gaskets. Squeak gone. A few days later the engine light, VSC and VSC off lights came on. Using Mandyfig's info I was able to get them off. I took the car back in when the lights coming on became a regular event. Since then I've had the cam shaft position sensor and oil control valves replaced. Codes cleared, car drives great and 3 days later the lights are back on! I couldn't take the car in right away and drove it with the lights on for a few days. They were on this morning when I went to run an errand and upon my return, they were off! I'm guessing they'll be back on in a few days, but thats just a guess. In the meantime the car runs great, idles smooth etc. Thoughts? Many thanks for all the help this board provides. I just replaced the trunk struts myself and I'm not a real handy guy with cars!

You might consider an engine oil flush or running a quart or MMO for few hundred or so and changing the oil. Carbon building up in the engine can lead to this error. Could be electrical as well. The fact the cars runs well means the system is performing close to oem spec. Hard to diagnose intermittent problems.

My guess is you have a sensor failing. It fails intermittently.

When it fails the check engine light goes on. After a certain number of starts without the error, the car turns the check engine light off (AKA CEL)

However, a scanner should be able to pickup the failed sensor code as a History code.

Any chance you were looking at the work done to your engine and had the air filter cover off, or maybe you disconnected something and turned on the engine?

That would trigger the code. After you put everything back together and started the car a bunch of times, that would turn off the code.

After I wrote my last post, I did a search on the code. Here is an interesting webpage that has the reason for the codes and a video you can watch

He mentioned he already replaced both the OCV and VVTI sensors. The code does refer to bank 2. I assume you replaced the bank 2 sensor vs bank 1.
