Default Can radio be disabled by pulling a fuse?

My teenage daughter is driving my SC430 now. As a punishment (don't ask ), I'd like to prevent her from listening to the radio.

There appear to be two fuses that involve the radio:

#24 "Radio #2" (10A) = Audio system, Trip information display, seat belt warning light; shift lock system
and
#47 "Radio #1" (30A) = Audio system

I'm guessing that #47 is the main radio/amp system -- 30A is pretty huge.

Any issues or contraindications from pulling #47?

Thanks!

Why don’t you just yank the fuse to se if it works, or better yet disconnect the connector to the radio.

Sure, I was just hoping to get some knowledgeable input on the advisability of that, so as to avoid unintended consequences. Apparently, other items are also on fuse #24 and possibly on #47.

Your best bet was the 10a, passenger side, “Radio No.2” fuse. Unfortunately, the power circuit diagram shows you’ll lose power to the AC control console and that means no control of it or the roof. So no that’s no bueno. Guess you’ll have think of another discipline.

update...
i did some further checking & tested it too. You can pull Radio Fuse No. 1, 30amp, located in position 47 in the engine bay block, to disable the radio. All other component seem to work properly.

Or, just turn off the radio and place a tamper seal on the radio door. If the seal is broken, voilà, you have your proof of non compliance. No messing with the electrical systems.

I have an aftermarket radio so I cannot try it but I thought the steering wheel mode button will turn the radio on, arrow button will change stations or cd track and then you have the volume control buttons.

Thanks, Bob! I'll pull the fuse. She is very clever and might just go online and buy additional tamper seals, plus I think Bgw70 raises an interesting point. But I don't think she'll figure out the fuse, especially since I will not tell her that is how I disabled the radio. She's a chip off the old block, which is both a blessing and a curse!

Uniquely numbered tamper seal for the engine compartment fuse box. Smarter than the average bear, eh? Better not leave the owner’s manual in the car. And you can program all preset stations to static or better yet, all mariachi, all the time, music only.
