245/45/18 tires
I have read comments from 2 members that they are running a bit larger tires on their SC430 without any problems. I am having a set installed next week and just like to make double sure that no one has had any issues with this size tires on their car. I am hoping that the ride on these Michelin PRIMACY MXM4 will be quieter and soften the road separation "clunk" I have been experiencing. The Meister coil cover have made a world of difference in the overall handling of the car and I hope the tire change will be worth it.
Anyone having any comments regarding this tire size difference would be appreciated. Thanks, Jim |
Worked great., nicer ride and noise

Thanks Bob

Your speedometer and mileage will be like 5.7‰ off. If you went 235/45 it's down to 2.5%. I think the Pirelli P7 Plus is a better tire.

It will be off 3.5%, at 65 it will be going 67, I considered the 235/45 but it is close to 3/4" narrower.

I have the P7's on my 2010 LS 460L in a 19 inch. They have a tread warranty of 70K I love them however I will not get 40K out them. On the 245/40/18's which is the tire for our SC's they have no tread warranty according to Tire Rack anyway.

Got the tires installed yesterday and they cut down the road noise and roadway separation noise by at least 50%. Very happy with the tires and Costco treated me right!

Very nice. I also can't wait get rid of the run flats. I was disappointed Costco does not carry the P7. Costco does allow you to bring your own tires. How is the ride quality?
As far as 19" rims, 40k miles is actually pretty good. |
Ride quality much improved over the super sports.

No need to start a new thread. Just replaced the Bridgestone Potenza's with Pirelli Cinturato P7 Plus due to a pothole taking out one tire. I also went to a 245/45/18. As mentioned, ride quality is much better. Like a lot. Much less noise, tracking is improved, and comfort is notably improved. My speedometer is now accurate as well. Before it was reading a 2 - 3 miles faster than actual GPS speed. If you are on the fence about this don't hesitate. Well worth it over run flats. I also like the fact that the new tire sticks out a little further giving you a little more protection against curb rash. Ordered a OEM spare off ebay as well. Very happy with the upgrade.
Profile is very close. Top is the new tire at 45 and the bottom is the old at 40. https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.clu...580f0f376e.jpg |

You said you bought a OEM spare off e-bay. Did you add the spare tire conversion kit as well? Dennis |

If you have the OEM spare you can get the rest of the Kit to include the cover for $300. I installed the kit in both my son's 05 and my 06. It looks so much nicer.
