TPMS: Favorite Subject - Can't disable it
So I was driving down the street, out of the blue, the stupid Tire Pressure Warning light illuminated. Easy, I was thinking, I just have to use Techstream to disable it like I did months ago.
Wrong ! I came home and hooked up Techstream, went to signal check like last time, but this time the stupid light did not go off. No problem, I was thinking again, I will disable it, one and for all, by disconnecting the plugs like many of you have done. Wrong again ! I pulled both plugs, the large white and the smaller blue. The stupid light did not go off. Obviously, this method did not work for my 07 SC. Wonder why? Notice that in the data list, ID2, ID3, and ID4 temp is -40, ID1 temp is 75. Looked like 3 sensors are out, but Techstream only indicated that my ID4 stopped transmitting. So, unless I replace the bad sensors with the new ones, which I will not til I replace my runflats, I will have to look at the stupid warning light for awhile. Oh well, that's life ! https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.clu...77aa4c8542.jpg Disconnected both plugs https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.clu...9f01ce7100.jpg Light did not go off https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.clu...82d1f65a33.jpg Only DT1 shows pressure, others do not. Guess they are out. |
Well if the light really bothers you and you;re going to fix the TPMS then just cut a small
piece of plastic electrical tape and cover the light uo until you get the TPMS fixed |
Check & perform the steps in the flow chart on the last few pages of this TSB. (Obviously, you won’t be able to dismount the tires.) But you should be able to follow ALL the other diagnostic steps and remedies.

So perhaps this old way of doing the TPMS disconnect does not work for certain SC years?

Weird thing happened again. As you know I recently had an incident with my battery, it went dead when I left the dome lights on. The battery got recharged, the SC runs normal and the weird thing is the tire pressure warning light now is OFF and so far stays OFF for last couple days, knock on wood.
i will hook Techsteam tomorrow to see what is going on with the TPMS. |

The warning light is still off. I hooked up Techstream last night and it showed three out of four sensor are not communicating with the ECU. The voltages are good though. What I don't understand is the warning light was ON until the battery was discharged/recharged and now the warning light is off? VitiBob, can you explain? Wonder when the light turns on again? |
First a question... Does TPMS trouble indicator in the combination meter (speedometer) light momentarily (3 seconds) during the car’s start-up sequence? If YES, see below⬇️

I assume lexus’s Legal staff told them to not show owners how to disable a safety feature.

On a more serious note, you have gone through the TSB for your car? You have checked the position of AND tested the Main/2nd switch?
|
I've never seen the TPS battery voltage listed as "over" before.

Wow, I totally missed that.
TSB is probably Technical Service Bulletin. |
