AFS Warning light
New owner and loving it. After 10 to 20 miles driving the Warning light starts to flash and the system goes u/s. If I stop, turn off and restart it clears and works again for another 10 to 20 miles...Any ideas?

Two thoughts come to mind. The AFS was accidentally turned off, check the button. Or, corrosion in the Sensor meaning, it needs service. |
Also, welcome to the forum. Please read this...https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sc4...430-forum.html the SEARCH tool really is terrific for finding answers. I just typed in AFS on the standard search and came up with several prior threads with two possible solutions. |
Thanks for the Super Quick reply.
The button is operating fine so it looks like option 2, which is frustrating as it was in at Lexus for a Airbag recall last week.... Never mind...thanks again for the info. Best. Nick |
Welcome to the forum. Post some pictures when you get the chance and let us know what you find out about the problem.

Lexus's Intelligent Adaptive Front Lighting System, is a driver-aid that adjusts the direction of the headlights in response to steering inputs and vehicle speed, in effect pointing the low-beam headlights into the corner and improving your view. 2006 and greater SC430s. U/S? ya got me there. |
Adaptive Front Lighting is AFS, u/s Means Unserviceable, a posh way of saying, not working

Two issues regarding AFS switch and speed of the vehicle. Switch has what some might consider reverse or backwards operation. See position two & three in the diagram. https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.clu...315128550.jpeg |

If you are interested in fixing this problem yourself (or just about any problem with your Lexus) you should do a search on this forum and find out how you can get a copy. |
When was the AFS introduced to the SC430? 2005 or 2006?

So the AFS came in with the new head and tail lights? (That would make sense.)

2006 - 2010 up down and left right (as you turn steering wheel.) |
