Thanks for the link. Looks like I'll be headed back to the dealer sometime in the near future also according to the government link posted above.

do you recall when you had the inflator replaced?
according to the article, the early replacement inflators had issues.

According to my little maintenance pad that I keep in my car (yes, I'm old school), my air bag was replaced on 9/30/2013. So it was a little over 5 years ago.

How does Toyota/Lexus determine if your SC 430 need to redo the airbag recall? If your SC430 has already gone in for a replacement, does this mean
You no longer have to go in? And this recall is
Only for those that never replaced their airbag?

“The Toyota and Lexus vehicles were recalled previously and the inflators replaced with new ones that still used ammonium nitrate. In the latest recall, Toyota will use inflators made by another company with a safer chemical.
Owners will be notified early next year. Toyota says it has replacement parts available.”

Jonas,
From the above news, I believe Toyota is doing a second recall on the vehicles have been previously recalled.
For now, SC 02-05, later probably-06-10.

I may drag my feet a little to let the mechanics get some replacements under their belts again so that mine won't be their first or first in a long time. I'd rather they have experience doing it again.

My Lexus dealer tells me there is no option for my 2003 model - they HAVE to take the whole dash out?

This will be my second replacement. Silly me diligently obeyed the first recall not knowing they were replacing 'like for like'. And, yes - the dash has a small bump against the windscreen that wasn't there pre-replacement so I'm very, VERY wary about having this done again.

Received my second airbag recall notice in the mail last Saturday. It indicates it’s a six(6) hour job. Will be making an appointment with the dealer in the near future.

I also just received passenger airbag recall notice #2 and plan to schedule a visit to the dealer within the next month. My car was originally garaged in San Diego for most of its 15 years. Now it lives just north of Portland, Oregon.

Somewhere I read that this is to replace an initial airbag installed, because the prior one could still explode. The new-recent one if the safest one. Just speculating. If you remember, there were 3 or so companies making airbags for Toyota and Honda and were pumping out a huge number of airbags. What did it say on the recall? Can somebody post one?

....so from the conversation that I had with the service advisor, is that the original recall airbag was a Takata also. They changed a part in the bag, which they thought would cure the issue, but it did not. The recall letter calls it a Takata Front Passenger Airbag Inflator-"Like for Like" Replacement (Zone A). So this time around, they are using a totally new designed airbag
