Default Practicality of an SC430

Hi all, I am active over in the LS460 section but I am now seriously considering an SC430. I am looking to hear from those that use these as daily drivers. Do you find them practical for daily use? I will still be keeping my 2011 LS460L but I will mainly drive the SC430 during the week. I am considering a 2007 anything to avoid on this model year? I welcome all input. Thanks

....come on & enjoy the fun...lol..... you could join a very small elite group here that both own a Sc430 & Ls460L !!!....I drove my Sc daily for about 9yrs & never had an issue doing so. It can be just as practical, as any other vehicle, in my opinion. You'll give up some trunk space when you have the top down, but I see you have some choices @ home, to help with that issue

Can’t go wrong with an 2007 SC. Trust me, I own one.

I've been dd'ing my SC since May. No issues at all - comfortable and fun. Mileage is better than advertised, and if you leave the top up, the trunk holds more than you would think.

I can go Costco shopping for myself in my SC430 so I have used it very practically in the past. I have also transported my winter tires and rims ( all 4 ) in the SC430 ( suitably wrapped and cushioned ) for nearly 800 miles so you can carry a fair amount of stuff if you really want to.

Hoping to settle on a SC430 tomorrow. We thinking about having a upholsterer shape a quilted moving blanket into a cover for the back seat. I swear people take these cars to big box stores and cram in oversized items!

Good idea. Let us know how it turns out, with pictures, of course.

Bluetooth came with 2006+, but only for phone conversation, not for music. Sorry.

2010 was the only year unless you install an aftermarket Bluetooth interface device.

I have a 2000 Lexus LS400 and an 06 SC430 and they are very similar in reliability.

The only issue I've had with the SC is a convertible top malfunction where I had to replace the package tray motor ($650 parts and labor @ Lexus). The SC is probably the most reliable convertible you can buy from my research. I love it!

The GF exerted mild resistance while shopping for a SC430. “What will I drive to go get groceries?” “The Cherokee” I said. “Where will we put our luggage when we drive to DC?” “In the trunk, we’re not driving on major highways with the top down and we’ll leave our luggage in the hotel room when sightseeing.”

The SC430 trunk can actually hold quite a lot of stuff, including groceries, not to mention the extra space when you add in the back seat. JohnnyCake did a thread a few years ago showing just how much stuff that he managed to carry in his car one time (I think he was moving or moving someone). It was pretty amazing. Depending on your luggage and whether you have a spare tire kit installed you can still carry some luggage in your trunk with the top down. On a thread a few years ago was also someone showing some custom type luggage that was made to fit in the trunk crevices while the top is down.
