The one thing that really irks me is that Lexus used two different kinds and colours of wood. One for the shifter and steering wheel, and one for the dash and door panels. Seems like a really odd oversight.

Did you buy this car new ? I see what you mean and that is really odd. If your not the OEM owner maybe someone swapped out the shifter ball and maybe air bag went off and replaced with different color

The only thing I dislike is its size.....The SC is actually a big car with not much usable space.

FM radio reception is worse than any of our other cars.

The glare from the dash onto the windshield was a serious problem for me. Last year I found a very nicely made custom dash cover designed for the SC430 that fits perfectly, looks good, and 100% stops the reflected glare.

Care to share where you picked this up and the cost? That glare is really bad.

what he means is the stick shift and steering wheel are one shade and the plastic dash and door pieces are another shade. I think most of our cars are that way. They have a shade difference.

to answer your question, I purchased this 2007 with 29k miles last year...I am the second owner...no airbag deployment.

Could the wood on the steering wheel and shiftknob have darkened due to oils from hands on them?

I believe they are clear coated so I don't think oils can penetrate.

You're correct, as you can see in the close-ups. But, my dash and doors are a redder bird's eye, and the shifter and steering wheel are a lighter shade, and what looks like walnut.
