Caution: Buying parts from Texas on ebay
Just wanted to warn about buying parts on ebay from Texas. Yards are beginning to scrap out cars that were submerged during the flood last year.
I bought a spare climate control from eBay recently (for fairly cheap) and was accurately labeled non-working. I planned to refurbish it. What you couldn't tell (and wasn't mentioned) was that it had clearly been submerged under dirty water. This ate away at the LCD.
It was labeled as non-working, so I am not crying about it. Just thought I would warn others to be cautious when buying parts.
It did give me an easy opportunity to demonstrate what reversed LCD looks like since the salt water popped off the polarizer.

My guess is that this just does not apply to parts since so many cars were flooded and then probably branded with salvage titles in Texas. My point is that this climate control was removed from an SC, so the car was either scrapped, or someone installed a climate control unit that works back into the SC so they could sell the car used with all visible electronics working. On the outside I don't doubt a lot of these flooded cars look like they did before the flood, it's the interior that could have mold issues, electronics in the interior as well as on the engine may have been damaged, not to mention the engine itself. I assume these cars can be fixed up to look nice and run, but more than likely will have several problems surface after being sold, some of which may be difficult to solve.
