Default SC 430 rear spoiler ( Does it really have any down force at high speed ?)

SC experts

I always wondered does the rear spoiler really
have any true functional purpose?

The way way it is shape suggest it is only for looks.
Do you think at 75Mph , it creates any downforce
for high speed stability ?

At 75mph, I doubt it. At 150mph, may be.

Audi SQ5 I had did not have spoiler but as I drive fast it used to hug the road instead of trying to take off losing good contcat with road surface.
Also it did not nose dive in panic braking situation, Rear wheels stay put on the ground. Should try this on RC with spoiler on it.
In sports mode specially at high speed the stability was GOOD. Then compared to Porsche Macan IMO, Porsche was better even tho SQ5 could outrun it.
I no longer have SQ5 now. Due to getting old, no more fast cars, just comfortable, safe car is in. Still miss fun cars to drive. But SIL has nice motor bike,
vintage Indian Commando. son has two Bimmers which I can drive when I feel like it

I wouldn't remove it. I would say the rear spoiler does make a small difference at high speed. I fitted an extra spoiler for more down-force but I've no way of measuring what if any effect it has.

I would say the spoiler on our cars is for aesthetics considering this spoiler on a car running 200mph

I would say no downforce. The drag coefficient number is higher without the spoiler than Lexus posted with the spoiler. If I remember correctly it was .31 without it and .30 with it.

Agreed, although when it comes to NASCAR, the spoiler rule is also to slow the cars down. The restrictor plate has already cut over 300 hp and the high drag spoiler lets them reduce speed without further narrowing the plate.

Just as a side note, hopefully, not hijacking this thread. I'm interested in adding a lightweight CF wing. Something classy that will match my body kit without looking too ricer. Any opinions on what might look nice?
