Let me know and I can create a new post with only the search pictures, then you could close it. Or just take my single post and make it a sticky.

Either way, thanks for what you do!

That way I won't feel like such a jerk when I tell people to do a search. I can easily give them the link on how to do one and then tell them to do a search.

Sticky suggestion sounds good, I'll see if I can set it up from this post's contents.

If our head unit has an AUX input, it should work. Somebody can confirm if we have an AUX input?

You need to have AUX input in order for my method to work. If the car does not have AUX input, I believe there are cheap AUX adapter online that you can buy and plug it in the back of the head unit for most Toyota's.

that was funny...okay searching 201,

in the last picture, the results are displayed, select the first one and he posted a picture of his usb receptacle replacing the lighter.

And after all of that (thank you, by the way) I still didn't see how and where you installed the mic.

Thanks for doing that. If BGW simplifies the post by showing how to do a basic search and an advanced search, that is probably the way to go.

Also, I feel bad about getting listed as the posting author, when it is really all BGW

That's pretty good. They are using a regular Y cable, as mentioned in another thread recently, but also add some circuitry to get to the CD 1 mode. We have instructions to make an audio input using a Y cable but haven't figured out yet how to get to the CD 1 mode. So you could do it with just a Y cable and and audio cable (maybe a few resistors) but you'd have to either find a quiet radio station or get a CD with quiet recorded or a blank cassette to use it with. If I had a spare radio I could play with it a bit since there are other signals on that connector. (I ordered Y cable a while back but it hasn't arrived yet.)

Update on trying to get am FM Bluetooth module that would plug in the lighter socket and also allow closing the ashtray door (original post question.)

Got the smallest plug in one I could find. Round top 1.3 inch diameter and about 1.2 inch tall top unit connected to the stalk that plugs in. Measured about .6 inch stick out from the bottom. Great news I thought. Made plans to cut down the stalk and have it done... took it apart and it has a circuit board running down the stalk. No way to cut it down.
