Feedback Needed For Potential New Product: 02-09 SC430 Climate Control LCDs

My screen is acceptable right now but given the wear/aging history of these items I'd be a buyer of a replacement LCD screen if someone had them available. There are a lot of early SC430s out there so it could be a good seller and attract customers to other products and services. If you can make it profitable I'd suggest pricing for new LCD screen of $199, and maybe $299 installed plus shipping one way.
Take a look at their website. They are much lower than $199 for other models.

Good feedback so far.
Anyone know if all 02-09 climate control units are the same? Do the LCD panels all display the same thing regardless if it was equipped with electro-vision or not?
Can anyone provide a side by side picture of the two different climate control units?

My dealings with you in the past have been great. You did what you said you would do, for the price you said you would do it for, in the time frame you outlined.
Though I do not need a new LCD at the moment, it would be nice to know I could go to you when I need one. Being a techie, I think I could solder my own one in, but with 50 pins, it is a little daunting. For that reason, it would be nice if you offered it as a replacement part, or as a Complete service.

This is what electro vision used to be: https://newsroom.toyota.co.jp/en/detail/7790394
And to answer my own question in the previous post, There were different Models of the Soarer; so the SC430 is a Soarer, but NOT THE ONLY Soarer

For pricing similar to what Bgw showed, I think that it would be a hit. However, I suspect that most folks will opt to have it repaired. De-soldering a 70 pin LCD will not be a trivial exercise. I suspect that there are only a handful of us in this forum that have that skill set and would not be a cakewalk for even us. OTOH, the number folks on this forum that are very into hands on DIY repairs is pretty high. So there might be more folks willing to take the task on than actually currently have the skills to do so, basically, they'd be learning as they go. The skills required aren't super tough to learn, so it would be very doable.

Electro Vision is the video screen for the navigation system. There are a few, OK maybe three, SC430s out there without Navigation. If you upgrade the head unit, “regular” video can be played on it at non HD resolution. There are, of course, laws against it, and, as wrote in my stereo upgrade I did not connect mine as I believe the distraction and temptations too great.
I believe the LCD “panel form factor” remained the same for the entire 2002-2010 run. But I’ll have to check my sources.

Ok so without electro vision means without nav which means the climate control won't have the nav buttons on the top. As mentioned, maybe 0.05% of SC430's came without navigation. This won't affect the LCD screen then, let's assume one LCD fits everything.
Good, used climate control units currently sell for around $300. The problem is you're still buying a used unit that is as old as the one you're replacing. There were fairly limited numbers of the SC430 too which makes matters worse. There aren't hundreds of used market climate controls floating around.
It seems like there would be a significantly larger number of people willing to either send theirs for repair ($200-$300) or people willing to purchase an entire climate control unit that we have re-manufactured with a brand new screen installed. ($400-$500 or more based on supply). Obviously we would sell the LCD's if someone wanted one. Based on this specific unit I think that price may fall somewhere between $50-$100.
Is everyone comfortable with those price ranges? Do we know how many active members on this forum own SC430's? What percentage of them have a failed LCD screen?

That's what we are asking everyone, which is why we need 25-50 people committed before investing several thousand dollars in this process. It will likely not be as cheap as the older SC because we will be the only vendor in the world that has these LCD's for the SC430.

There's two issues that have come up pretty often on here about the above mentioned LCD. One is the missing lines. Two is the deterioration of the anti-glare coating. So actually your solution fits both of those problems. You have a great reputation on this forum. I don't see you having a problem selling 25 to 50 units on here. One other selling feature that was mentioned above, was if you offered different colored backlight. That could also be a huge selling point for those who are just looking for a change in appearance.

While I can’t speak for others, and I’ve been away for a few years, I’m ready to send my unit in AND buy a spare LCD panel as long term insurance. I also agree.. if you build it, they will come. I’ve also exchanged an email with “Katie” in your office regarding my LCD panel. However, I believe there was some confusion about it. I sent a new email today.

I think you answered your own question...lol..If your company will potentially be the only vendor to offer repair/replace, I think the investment would pay for itself. There are alot of Sc430's on the road & everyone may not need the service now, but this is definitely a service that would be worth while...IMO. I've been on CL for some years & can remember many members looking for an option to repair their units, for one reason or another. I've had to replace mine before, because I damaged it, taking out the nav screen. I purchased a used one for about $300 ??
