Default The Ghost in the Door Locks

Both mine and my sisters SC430 randomly locks itself while it is alone in the garage.
Maybe these cars have some phobia about being in a garage alone...

I have heard the doors lock and the horn beep 5 or 10 minutes after I left the car with the key fob sitting in the cabinet.
Has anyone else experienced this and have a solution?

Toyota remote door locks have timeout associated with them. After unlocking a door with the key fob, if the door is not opened within a certain amount of time, the door will be relocked. I don't know if this is related to your situation but it is how Toyota handles an unaccessed unlocked door.

That kind of makes since, I haven't found a direct hit on this with a google search but I did find someone on the Prius Forum saying that this was a Toyota feature but it took a long conversation with the dealer to get them to use their scanner to change this.
I have access to the Toyota Scanner but it is on the other side of the country right now.

When I get back I will plug it in and see if I can find this setting.

Thanks.
Bob

My 2012 Yaris does this, but after about 30 seconds. It is annoying really. I kept trying to unlock via the fob in the house, but couldn't make it outside in time and the car would lock as soon and I grabbed the handle. In hindsight it is kinda funny.

Toyota isn't the only manufacturer who does this either. I would do the same thing you described with my Land Rover lr3. Get right to the door and it would lock. The bright side was it forced me to get more exercise.

My Honda does it also...unlock the car and open trunk, put something in the trunk and the doors lock again...too much time!
