I did some searching but have not found much.
I need to replace my front tires. My front rims are 19x9 (from RCF). My choice in tire size is 245/40/19. Would this size cause any rubbing? I currently have 255/35/19 in the front and I have to use a 3mm spacer because of the rubbing (upper control arms). My goal is to get rid of the spacer with 10mm skinnier tires.
I see a lot of suggestions for 245/35/19, but t was hoping to go with 245/40/19 (price and availability).
Also, I did a quick tire size comparison and the diameter difference between the stock size 245/40/18 and 245/40/19 is 3.9%. Is it acceptable?
....I think you still may have some rubbing issues with the 245/40/19, because of the rubbing issues now.......since you didn't tell us the offset of the 19x9 wheel, some of the rubbing could be due to the offset, hence using the spacer to eliminate it. Also another factor & possibly a major one, what year is your Sc & has the front shocks been changed ? I did some modification to the frontend & experienced some rubbing. The mods weren't over the top, but just enough to let me know that new shocks were needed. After I replaced them, then no further rubbing issues. If new shocks are needed, then this could possibly allow you to run the 245/40/19, without any issues. Another thing that I've done before, is to go to one of the mom/pop used tire shops & buy a couple of used tires (the size that you may want to run). Try them out for a few days & if no issues, then purchase new ones........hope this helps some & maybe others will chime in
It's a 2007 and I think the shocks are OK. The rims are from RCF. Not sure what the offset is. With 255/35 I had a very slight rubbing on the inner side of the tire (was rubbing the rim protector). A 3mm spacer solved the problem.
I'm thinking a 10mm skinnier tire (244/40) would not be rubbing even though it will be slightly taller in diameter?
Wish I saw this chart before I ordered the tires. I got 245/40/19 for the front and this tire on a 9" rim needed a spacer thicker than 3mm. I do not want to deal with spacers and cannot return the tires so, I decide to sell the RCF wheels with two sets tires.
Whoever is interested, I'll be putting them up for sale in the classifieds soon.
